The New Look of New York’s Sixth

When New York’s Sixth first hit the web, we relied on the Blogger.com publishing platform. As the website grew, Blogger became increasingly cumbersome (New York’s Sixth was actually 3 separate Blogger blogs cobbled together as one site). But we’re growing up; welcome to the WordPress platform.

Moving to WordPress, while a more powerful publishing platform, also meant redesigning New York’s Sixth from the ground up. We took the opportunity to address some things we didn’t like and improve the things we did. For instance, now we adding bigger photos:

<----- Look how wide this is! ----->

In addition, WordPress allows for better comment moderation and individual page customization. And since we’re starting from the ground up, we’ve also given more consideration to navigating around the site, hopefully making it easier for our readers to find the information they are looking for.

We’re also rebuilding the Jersey City Directory. While this is a time consuming process, in the long run the directory will be easier to manage, more accurate, and of course include bigger photos. Over the next several weeks the directory will be updated in the new format.

And we’ve introduced a Features section for the special reports we put together like the Zone Parking map.

We hope you are as pleased with the new look as you are.
