Toricos: Delays “out of our hands”

Toricos responds to a customer’s note left on their door.

The downtown ice cream shop, closed for almost two years while under renovations has updated neighborhood residents with a colorful sign. The posting was offered as a response to a customer’s note asking when the shop would reopen.

Rumors had been circulating that somewhere in Jersey City’s bureaucracy, a friend or relation of another downtown ice cream shop has been interfering.

The city is notorious for inefficiency when it comes to opening (or reopening) local businesses, and also graft. Pick your poison, but we suspect “out of our hands” means Toricos faces some sort of city issue. If only Mayor Healy liked ice cream as much as bar fights.
