198 Van Vorst Street is getting bricks. The new Fields Development Project has been years in the making.

The Paulus Hook project sits along the light rail tracks and fills in one of the last larger properties along the canal. The project is a block from the existing waterfront walkway, and a pathway along the light rail tracks connects to the Liberty Harbor development at Marin Blvd.

The site is the former Bel-Fuse company which moved across the street. The property was remediated prior to the real estate collapse, and the project sat dormant. The original designs were smaller with an even roofline.
