We have to say we&#8217;re ashamed Steve Brown has been taken as a representative sample of local residents: <\/p>\n<p>We don&#8217;t disagree with Brown that &#8220;Brooklyn&#8217;s got a problem,&#8221; but we take offense to his lumping downtown Jersey City into his urban bashing. Indeed, Mr. Brown talks about Manhattan like a suburban teenager who for the first time took the train to the big, bad city.<\/p>\n<p>We appreciate that TIWWDN has pointed out: &#8220;Steve manages to remind us he has a girlfriend multiple times;&#8230;he&#8217;s really a small-town guy. He also neglects to mention that he can&#8217;t actually afford to live in the city because he&#8217;s a 26-year-old who works in retail.&#8221; But we can&#8217;t say we&#8217;re exactly pleased with what else TIWWDN <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/redirect?link_code=ur2&#038;camp=1789&#038;tag=macallensthea-20&#038;creative=9325&#038;path=tg\/detail\/-\/1596580739\/qid=1120762977\/sr=8-1\/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i1_xgl14?v=glance%26s=books%26n=507846\">Editor<\/a><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.assoc-amazon.com\/e\/ir?t=macallensthea-20&#038;l=ur2&#038;o=1\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" style=\"border:none !important; margin:0px !important;\" \/> has to say, especially since we tend to think he&#8217;d enjoy the night life he hasn&#8217;t even sampled yet.  <\/p>\n<p>Ironically, we found this post <a href=\"http:\/\/www.curbed.com\/archives\/2005\/07\/07\/hobokens_cool_except_theres_no_quickchek_anymore.php\">via curbed,<\/a> despite being a semi-regular reader since TIWWDN was founded.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This Is What We Do Now points us to an article in AM New York where a Hoboken retail rat explains why its great to be on our side of the river.
